Donald Trump

Thank you Washington Post. Thank you Chris Cillizza.

I wondered what a word cloud about Donald Trump might look like the day before the US Presidential Election and the wonderful people at the Post had already talked to 387 people and created one.

Thank you internet.

Under the headline “This word cloud explains why Donald Trump is likely to lose tomorrow”, Chris Cillizza argues that the two most common words people come up with when asked to describe Donald Trump are “sexist” and “racist” so it’s hard to imagine the American people making him President. He also points to the prominence of “Not a politician” and “Businessman” as reasons why he should have been an ideal Republican nominee, but he blew it with his repeated sexist and racist remarks.

That’s all people remembered when they were asked about him. That's his reputation.

Hopefully the same thing will happen in the polling booth on November 8 and people will decide not to vote for the sexist, racist and the world will breath a sigh of relief.

The same thing happens in isle 4 of your local supermarket by the way. Not voting for Trump or Clinton but voting for Heinz or Beerenberg when considering relish. It’s about the words that come to mind that help you make the decision to purchase one way or another. Looking at the word clouds associated with your product or service compared with others is a fascinating insight as to what people think.

We think of it as your brand’s reputation.
